Description

For your consideration is a November 1969 6119-6053 Regatta Timer Wristwatch. This is the first (and arguably) only Seiko with two independent rotating bezels.

Condition

The watch presents as a very original watch and I would rate the cosmetic condition as a very good. The case is in very good condition and has not been polished and retains the proper azimuthal brushing around the upper surface. The inner rotating bezel suffers from the typical loss of color. The outer bezel is in very good condition with only minor scratching. This is a Proof/Proof watch. The hands are in extremely good original condition.  I have relumed the dial indicators as the original lume had suffered moisture damage over time.

The watch comes on a period correct Tropic Sport “Water Proof” Acier band, a very collectable piece in its own right. A value of over $250.

Service and Upgrades

I serviced this watch on 10/28/2022. That process includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The amplitude numbers are 240-250 range and the rate is +/- 2 sec/day. The case back and crown all have new, and factory correct seals.

These watches were originally a 21 jewel, non-hacking, day-date complication movement that were far superior to what was found in other popular “diver” watches from this time (6105).  I have added hacking functionality and I have jeweled the mainspring arbor ports using our custom designed jewels that are manufactured in the US.
