SOLD — Seiko 6105 Captain Willard

Description

For your consideration is a September 1972 6105-8119 diver — otherwise known as the “Captain Willard”. This is perhaps the most highly sought after Seiko diver’s watch. All components are completely original to the watch. The crystal is a NOS Seiko Type II. The watch comes with it’s original waffle band and a new reproduction of the original from Uncle Straps. I will also include the replaced upper mainspring bushing and the crown seal that was replaced. The dial and hands on this watch are in excellent condition. This is a highly desirable “long sweep” and horseshoe case back which were only produced until the summer of 1972.

Condition

The watch is completely original unto itself and I would rate the cosmetic condition as excellent. The case has the original surface brushing on the upper surface and has not been polished; retaining all of its original case lines with minor wear commensurate with the age. The dial and hands are in pristine condition and retain their original luminous material. The original band was repaired at some point in the past, and as such, I would not recommend wearing the watch with the original band.

Service and Warranty

This watch has received a full service. That process includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. The crown was mechanically rebuilt to replace the o-ring gasket.  Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The movement has two custom produced, American made jewels in the ports of the barrel arbor. The amplitude of the balance wheel is 230-240 range and the rate is (+/-) 2 sec/day. The case back and crown all have new, and factory correct seals. This watch comes with a 100% money back promise of originality and a 1-year limited warranty on the movement from the time of sale.
