Description

For your consideration is a March 1969 6139-6000 Proof/Proof 5-Sports SpeedTimer Automatic Chronograph. This is the 21 Jewel JDM version with the red-letter text movement. This is the earliest example of a SpeedTimer that I have ever owned. The dial, hands and all mechanical components are original to this watch. The bracelet is a replacement 5-Sports style. This also retains its original two part sweep second hand, which are often replaced through service.

Condition

The dial has been restored in the past. Some of the text is faded, but is still visable and without magnification, presents very nicely. The lume was replaced in the past (poorly), so I relumed the dial with my VintageLume.  The hour and minute hands are frosted and are in good condition. The sweep hand is original and has some patination of the original paint. I installed an NOS minute recording hand.  The dial and case back date stamps are separated by two months (94 case, 96 dial). The case edges have been lightly polished  but the case retains the original top surface brushing.  The crystal is a new Klein Hardlex glass replacement.

I have priced in the flaws to this watch. If you want a really nice wearable early chronograph, this is a great example to have.
