Description
For your consideration is a June 1967 6217-8001 — Seiko’s first professional diver. Otherwise known as the “62Mas”. Perhaps the ultimate Seiko diver’s watch. This one is even more special than the rest.
To the Seiko enthusiast, this watch should be immediately recognized as a unicorn. The “Small Crown” variants from early 1965 set a high water mark among collectors. However, the DainiSeikosha production watches are much more distinctive and desirable. The Daini-Mas is easy distinguished from its Suwa brethren by the Tanned Lume on the dial and hands, the horseshoe case back and the Gold Gilt writing on the movement. This watch is the one to have.
This is an opportunity that should not be missed. It is unlikely that you will find another 62Mas in this condition with a full service and properly seals crown and stem.
Condition
I would rate the cosmetic condition as very good. The case has the original surface azimuthal lines on the upper surface and has not been polished; retaining all of its original case lines with very minor aging. The dial and hands are in good condition. There is some superficial patination on the dial and the lume on the minute hand was repaired during service. The watch will come on an Uncle Straps waffle.
Service and Warranty
This watch has received a full service which includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The case back and crown all have new and factory correct seals. The crown was mechanically rebuilt to replace the gasket and the crystal and seals that came with the watch when I received it will convey. A new perspex tension ring crystal was installed during service. This watch comes with a 100% money back promise of originality and a 1-year limited warranty on the movement from the time of sale.
