Description
For your consideration is a June 1976 6138-8030 “John Player Special” Automatic Chronograph — a very desirable Vintage Seiko with a cool racing history. The body of the watch including the dial, hands, case, and all mechanical components are all original and it comes on a Seiko branded bracelet that is very similar to the original. Original bracelets had gold center links and were often replaced in period.
Condition
The watch is completely original unto itself and I would rate the cosmetic condition as very good. The dial and hands are original to the watch and the dial back has a date stamp one month prior to the case stamp (65 — see images). The dial is in extremely good condition and preserves the gold finish on the SEIKO raised marker. The dial and hands retain the factory applied lume with some minor staining on the dial lume. The hands reset exactly to their vertical positions. The crystal is a new exact reproduction.
Service
I serviced this watch on 06/01/2022. That process includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The amplitude values are 240-250 range and the rate is +/- 2 sec/day. The case back, pushers and crown all have new, and factory correct seals.
This watch comes with a 100% money back promise of originality and a 1-year limited warranty on the movement from the time of sale. Shipping is to CONUS through USPS 2-day. International buyers must contact me for a shipping quote.
