Description
For your consideration is a September 1968 6117-8000 “Proof-Proof” Pilot’s GMT Automatic Wristwatch. The very first Seiko 6117 GMT.
Condition
The watch presents as very original unto itself and I would rate the cosmetic condition as a 8/10 as there is a minor degradation of the dial lacquer where the dial meets the chapter ring at 2:00 and 7:00. However, these two minuscule blemishes are very difficult to see. The case the original brushing on the upper surface and has not been polished; retaining all of its original case lines. The hands are in extremely good condition and both the dial and all hands retain their original lume. The watch comes on a vintage Speidel “Corfam Suede” tapered band.

Service and Warranty
I serviced this watch on 07/30/2021. That process includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The movement is now fully jeweled and has two custom produced, American made jewels in the ports of the barrel arbor and two additional jewels in the train bridge – taking the jewel count to 21. The amplitude of the balance wheel is 230-240 range and the rate is (+/-) 2 sec/day. The case back and crown all have new, and factory correct seals and it has a new acrylic crystal.
