Description
November 1978 6309-7049 — “Turtle”
For your consideration is an November 1978 6309-7049. The iconic Seiko diver’s watch. Case, dial, hands, chapter ring, and bezel and strap are completely original to the watch. Crystal is from Klein and band is from Uncle Straps.
The bezel insert has patina’d to a beautiful blue hue. Please note that the images pick out the yellow in the dial lume, though it’s more of a butter color than a stark yellow. Please see the video for a more accurate representation.
Condition
The watch is completely original unto itself and is in very good condition for its age. The case has all of the original surface brushing on the upper surface and has not been polished; retaining all of its original case lines. The dial and hands are in excellent condition and retain their original luminous material. The dial and case back dates are separated by three months (see images). The watch comes with a new Uncle Seiko rubber band and the original band from Seiko. The original crystal and replacement items also come with the watch.
Service and Warranty
I serviced this watch which includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The movement has two custom produced, American made jewels in the ports of the barrel arbor. The amplitude of the balance wheel is 240 range and the rate is (+/-) 2 sec/day. The case back and crown all have new, and factory correct seals. The crown was mechanically rebuilt to replace the gasket. This watch comes with a 100% money back promise of originality and a 1-year limited warranty on the movement from the time of sale.
