Description
For your consideration is an October 1967 6217-8001 — Seiko’s first professional diver. Otherwise known as the “62Mas”. Perhaps the ultimate Seiko diver’s watch. This is a highly desirable dolphin back case back and it comes on an Uncle Straps 19mm Tropic.
This is an opportunity that should not be missed. It is unlikely that you will find another 62Mas in this condition with a full service and properly seals crown and stem.
Condition
I would rate the cosmetic condition as near mint. The case has the original surface azimuthal lines on the upper surface and has not been polished; retaining all of its original case lines with very minor aging. The dial and hands are in extremely good condition and retain their original luminous material the high polish on the markers. The minute hand lume was reinforced to ensure it did not get damaged, but it does have some patination in the lume. The quick date has a typical stutter, but functions as it should. The case back and dial are exactly the same date (70 case, 70 dial).
Service and Warranty
This watch has received a full service which includes a full cleaning and evaluation of all movement components and proper lubrication. Lubricants used were Moebius synthetic varieties appropriate for this watch movement type. The case back and crown all have new, and factory correct seals.
